The “Fire Woman” broadside was commissioned by Rakestraw Books of Danville, California on the occasion of an author visit by Pulitzer Prize winning writer, Michael Cunningham. The text is from his historical novel, SPECIMEN DAYS, about a fire that engulfed the Triangle Waist Factory in New York in 1911. The young seamstresses who worked there were trapped, forced to either face the flames or jump to their deaths. Nearly 150 were killed. The broadsides were produced in limited edition and signed by the author. The copy shown here is an unsigned artist proof. NFS
