Vandercook 4 and
Heidelberg Windmill
The studio has two letterpresses, a Vandercook 4 proofing press patented in 1933, and a Heidelberg Windmill from the 1960s. The Vandercook was one of the first ten of its model. It weighs 1100 lbs but that's small for a letterpress. The Heidelberg feeds paper automatically and has many more controls to monitor as the press operator prints. It excels at crisp letterpress printing with perfect registration.
