Apprenticeship ProgramWe take in apprentices who are seeking experience in letterpress, design, and printmaking. The program is based on a work exchange and requires time to be committed during weekdays. Part of the apprentice's allotted time is devoted to work done for the studio, and and part is for the student to carry out their own work, with guidance, or to learn how to use the studio equipment. Studio work assigned to apprentices includes a range of skill levels and subjects, including filing, invitation assembly, printing, painting, editioning, marketing, design, photography, organization, business development, and writing. Past and current apprentices have used their time in the studio to make books, develop complex art projects, study beginning web design, learn how to use a Vandercook or Heidelberg Windmill letterpress, and to learn more about printmaking. If you are interested in learning more about the apprenticeship program, please contact Kim Vanderheiden at kvanderheiden@paintedtonguepress.com |
